FAQ

  • This has been a priority since day one. Our founder, Laura McGladrey, is a professor and clinician at the Stress Trauma Adversity Research and Treatment Center in Colorado; research is woven into everything we do.

Many of the studies into efficacy of our materials are currently ongoing or awaiting publication. The most recent list can be found on the free Resources page of our online membership platform, and we’ll keep adding to it as publications are finalized.

  • That’s great, we’re here to help. Starting a Resilience Team is almost always our recommendation for best results. That will get you everything you need to manage risk of stress injury going forward.

  • We offer online and in-person training to act as definitive sources of information on evidence-based best practices for using our tools. If funding is a barrier to accessing this training, contact us and we’ll see if the Responder Alliance Foundation can help. If you’re looking to personally instruct others in use of our materials, please contact us for more information.

  • Thank you - our small team truly appreciates any and all support. The best way to support us is to spread the word (when we say grassroots, we mean it). Other options are to help secure grant funding for public, live training, and to make a tax-deductible donation to the Responder Alliance Foundation. The Foundation exists to advance research and bring education to those who face financial barriers to access, and every donation helps.

  • Excellent question - here’s a bit more info on our courses to help you decide.

Stress Injury Awareness for the Individual - this is a great place to start. Many teams assign this course to all members as part of their risk management.

Stress Injury Awareness for the Team - this course is for planning and preventing team stress injury. Recommended for leadership and Resilience Teams.

Psychological First Response for Rescue - learn to assess and care for patients experiencing trauma. Recommended for anyone providing care to patients/family.

Incident Support for Traumatic Stress - learn how to appraise exposure to traumatic stress, and what to do after exposure occurs. Recommended for leadership and Resilience Teams.

  • We offer trainings via online courses, virtual, and in person trainings. You can find details on our training opportunities here.

Attendees get the most of live training when they complete our online training as prework first, so we often combine the two.

If it helps, you’re welcome to meet with us and come up with a plan for your organization.

  • If this is an immediate crisis or emergency, you can reach the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling 988 anytime.

Responder Alliance is a prevention-focused organization, but we can point you in the right direction. We recommend treating this with the care you would give to any other injury.

If you’re stress injured (staying in the orange or red for more than a couple weeks) you will really benefit from a clinician who speaks your language. A couple resources worth checking out are Mountain Muskox, S.O.A.R., and the Climbing Grief Fund.here

If you were injured at work (or volunteering) and your EAP isn’t offering meaningful support, it may be worth having your provider join our Clinicians Hub. Learn more about employer-sponsored support here.

  • Responder Alliance does not offer direct support for critical incidents. Our work focuses on prevention, and part of that is a developing a proactive Incident Support Framework. Bringing these tools into your organization before the next incident will help your team feel prepared and empowered to respond.

For help bringing the Incident Support Framework into your organization, feel free to contact us or find a time to meet.

If your team is stress injured, we recommend bringing in a clinician who speaks your language and is trained to help. If your EAP/usual provider isn’t familiar with this type of injury, consider a team membership to bring them into our Clinicians Hub for training.

  • We never want finances to prevent individuals who need help from accessing it.

We’re in the process of launching the Responder Alliance Foundation to support these needs through grants and scholarships. While it’s not fully launched yet, feel free to contact us and we’ll do our best to help.
