incident support tool

Traumatic stress is an occupational hazard faced by responders and austere professionals. Until recently, this hazard was only managed long after exposure, when rescuers were observed to be struggling. The Incident Support Protocol provides an accessible way to assess an event for potential to cause harm, enabling proactive response.

This allows us to:

  • Recognize when an exposure has occured

  • Measure how high-risk the exposure was

  • Respond proactively without waiting for symptoms to develop

The need for this tool makes sense when we compare traumatic stress to other exposure hazards, like carbon monoxide (invisible, with predictable results).

We’re at elevated risk of injury when performing interventions without training. Click here to take our online training on Incident Support for Traumatic Stress, or click here for bulk/team registration.
